Happy New Year!

Just a quick catch up post before going to bed since it's late and I have to work tomorrow, though I expect it will be slow, and it's just me and a colleague in the office.

Yesterday was a day of work, but I took a nice nap in the afternoon for about two hours while Chris was out running errands.  Then later in the evening I put together some snacks of chips and salsa, cheese and crackers and salami and we played Yahtzee and Triominos for a couple of hours, which was fun.  Listening to a fun music mix and chatting felt good, even though I was in a ton of pain thanks to an abrasion blister that made it hard to sit on the dining room chair.  I managed to last for a good amount of time considering I've pretty much existed in my recliner for most of my time here since I got out of rehab.  Then we gave treats and catnip to Hank and the girls, which was fun.  I was asleep by about 12:15 at the latest, which actually kind of surprised me - I thought I would have faded by 10!

I called both my Mom and my Dad this morning, and Mom and I talked for two hours, which was great.  I had suggested that she, Bailey, Matt and I meet up on Teams every couple of weeks to stay connected so I hope that comes to fruition.  Had some mediocre Chinese food for lunch (the best thing about it is that there was enough for me to have for lunch tomorrow) and read for a few hours, finishing the current issue of The New Yorker - so many great articles that are super in-depth and with subjects I didn't think would interest me.  Oh, and even more exciting - paid off all my credit cards.  Yes, that was sarcasm.  Which catches me up to now!

Aside from working tomorrow, I want to get the blu rays ready for mailing from the Yankee Swap in The Gyre, the film nerd group I'm in, start my first book of the year (my Goodreads goal is 36 for the year, which I think is really doable.)  My new Kindle Paperwhite comes on Saturday, so maybe now Chris will be more motivated to look for the one that somehow disappeared from my side table while I was in the hospital since he'll benefit from that.  Or maybe I'll send it to my Mom.  Hmmm.  I also plan on making dinner tomorrow night - pork loin and some kind of side dish, maybe doctored up corn.  I need to start using up the proteins in the freezer so I don't get the side eye from Chris when I buy the chicken and maybe more pork loin on sale later this week (even though I AM paying for it.)  I've been checking out some old cooking shows I used to like and trying to get motivated.  The kitchen and pantry needs some serious organization though - I know it would be a lot more enjoyable and encouraging to cook in an efficient space.

So those are my goals for tomorrow - let's see if I conquer them!

xoxo Shelly
